Rainy Days

All the rain we've had lately may be a nuisance to you, but it is great for your plants.  Flowers, trees, and grasses in our area are beautiful right now.  Most people haven't even had to turn on their sprinklers, yet.  Recently, I came across a great product.  It's called a Rain Chain, and it replaces the traditional downspout on your house.  It creates an inexpensive water feature, while storing rain water for future use.  Check it out at http://www.rainchains.com/.

These pictures are from a job we just finished in Hardin Valley.  In this landscape, we used Sweetbay Magnolias, Hydrangea trees, and Hemlock.  Our goal with this project was to create a natural landscape with plants native to Tennessee.  You can view more pictures on our website.

May Flowers

It's May!  Flowers are blooming, grass is green, and people all across Tennessee are firing up their outdoor grills.  It's the perfect time of year to start thinking about renovating your landscape.  Here are a few ideas to make your outdoor space a place where people want to be.

1)  If you'll be installing a new lawn this year, now is the time to plant warm season grasses, such as Bermuda.  If you'll be using Fescue, wait till Fall.

2)  It's time to refresh mulch.  It should be 3" deep around shrubs and trees.  It's important to do this in order to protect your plants from heat.

3) Water features are great additions to any garden.  Their soothing sounds will make the perfect backdrop to a spring day.
